The function of these
archives is to acquire and preserve historical audio-visual documentation
(about 3.000
titles). They promote activities for the study of the themes related to the
film-historical research relationship and to the use of filmed material for the teaching
of history.
This sector has developed activities in the computer-aided cataloguing
of fictional films and historical documentaries, in the production of audio-visual
material, in the organisation of study seminars and consultancy for teachers, students and
